There are around 180 resorts in the Alps and here are 5 of the best that are home to Oxygene Bike.
Méribel strikes a perfect balance between gentle alpine charm and thrilling adventure, offering a true playground for mountain biking enthusiasts. The resort is known for its softer, rolling terrain and lush greenery, thanks to alpine pastures sprinkled with wildflowers in the summer.
But that doesn’t mean biking here is all smooth and easy! Méribel boasts a well-designed network of trails, suitable for all levels.
Megève features rounded slopes and gentle, green landscapes. One of its most distinctive features is its endless alpine meadows and vast forests. This Haute-Savoie resort is perfect for accessible yet active mountain biking, ideal for family outings with just the right dose of sport and nature.
Serre Chevalier is truly one of a kind. Located in the Southern Alps, it blends alpine character with a hint of Mediterranean influence. It’s often said to be more open and sunlit, while still offering the thrill of a high-mountain resort. It’s long and varied terrain provides endless viewpoints and scenic rides.
At nearly 1,850 metres above sea level, Val d’Isère is surrounded by towering alpine peaks like the Grande Sassière and Mont Pourri. These dramatic mountains create a steep, wild landscape. From grassy meadows and alpine pastures in the valley to rocky cliffs and steep slopes higher up, the terrain here allows for diverse mountain biking adventures.
Perched at 2,100 metres, Tignes is one of the giants of the Alps. It’s a must-visit for mountain bikers in search of breathtaking scenery and serious thrills. The landscapes range from high plateaus to rugged slopes and open views over the Vanoise peaks. These dramatic alpine contours form sharp ridgelines and steep descents, offering riders a challenging and spectacular playground.

🚵♂️ Trails for all levels!
Across these different resorts, the varied landscapes make it possible to enjoy mountain biking in many different ways.
If you’re planning to experience MTB in the Alps, here’s what you can expect:
🟢🔵 Green and blue trails: accessible and often wide, these marked routes have gentle gradients, perfect for building confidence at your own pace.
🔴 Red trails: ideal for more experienced riders looking for a challenge. You’ll need to manage your braking, handle tight turns, feel comfortable with technical features (roots, rocks…) and, most importantly, keep your balance.
⚫️ Black trails: strictly for advanced riders, these demand top-level technical skills and confidence on the toughest terrain.
🛠️ Purpose-built infrastructure:
While the Alps are the perfect winter destination for skiing, in summer many resorts transform into true Bike Parks. Mountain biking is especially popular here because everything is designed to welcome riders in the best possible conditions. 🚵♂️
The ski lifts, originally built for winter sports, have been adapted to carry bikes and provide easy access to a large part of the area without the need for uphill pedalling.
What’s more, the ski slopes become marked trails suitable for all levels, from beginners and families to advanced or expert riders. Each resort has its own strengths: cross-country, enduro, downhill or freeride. Some also feature pump tracks and dedicated training zones.
All this is possible thanks to regular maintenance throughout the summer. The trails are thoroughly checked before opening and throughout the season to ensure riders. This ongoing care means you can focus on one thing only: pure riding pleasure.
⚙️ When it comes to looking after your bike, you’ll find on-site wash stations, self-service repair point and specialist shops with professional workshops. Oxygène Bike is one of them, you can rent an electric mountain bike there and head out on your own or with a guide.
In short, the Alps don’t just offer breathtaking scenery, they’ve created an entire ecosystem around mountain and e-mountain biking, making the experience both easy and accessible for everyone.
